Ron Kelley, a Nebraska Baseball Hall of Fame 2014 inductee was not only successful on the Bobcat baseball diamond but also was a top performer on the football field.
Kelley led the Bobcats to the Nebraska Collegiate Conference championship in 1962 while posting a 7-0 mark while posting a 1.82 earned run average. His career mark of 256 strikeouts still stands in the Peru State baseball records. In addition, Kelley is second in career victories with 20, and third in career earned run average at 2.71. He has the third and fourth-most single-season strikeouts at 82 and 77.
After college ball, Kelley was recruited to play professional ball by the Boston Red Sox.
Also, Kelley was a three-year letter winner in football and rushed for 1,116 yards during his time on the field.
