Hall of Fame
Regarded by many as one of the state conference’s elite athletes in the mid-1930’s, Wayne Riggs excelled on Peru track, football, and basketball teams. From 1933-37, Riggs earned 12 varsity letters and served as team captain in all three sports. As a runner, he won or placed second 57 times, establishing a 100-yard dash record which stood state-wide for many years. A 1937 graduate, Riggs devoted his career to education, mainly as an administrator, in Nebraska and Illinois before retiring in 1978.
