Hall of Fame
Riding the crest of a 13 game winning streak, the Bobcat football squad entered the 1953 season expecting and receiving the best shot from each of its eight foes. When the season concluded, Coach Al Wheeler & Co. had extended their unbeaten mark to 21 games (it grew to a school-record 26 before a loss midway through the 1954 season). The hallmark of the ’53 team was a rock-solid defense which allowed five opponents a single touchdown. The Bobcats’ depth allowed the team to overcome several key injuries during its campaign for greatness. The ’53 Bobcats become just the fourth PSC football squad inducted into the Hall of Fame.
