Hall of Fame
Clearly one of the most talented and determined teams in Peru State College history, regardless of the sport, was the 1952 Bobcat football squad. Their 10-0 record under Coach Al Wheeler anchored a 26-game winning streak stretching from late in the '51 season to late in the '54 campaign. The '52 Bobcats swept through a nine-game regular season unbeaten. They then capped it with a postseason, come-from-behind triumph over Augustana (S.D.) - on only three days' rest after their regular-season finale. Both Coach Wheeler and tackle Bob Lade earned Little All- America honors - Wheeler as national small-college " Coach of the Year," and Lade as a first-team offensive lineman. The 1952 Peru State football squad becomes the first Hall of Fame entry under the "Team" category for its remarkable season.
