Big, strong Mike Mulvaney made an immediate impact as a freshman at Peru State and continued to excel in both track and football throughout his career. He broke PSC’s discus record in his first meet, and cracked the starting lineup in the football after his first game, too. Mulvaney never placed lower than fifth at NAIA National Track and Field Championships in the discus. He started on both offense and defense through much of his gridiron career. Mulvaney graduated from Peru State in 1971.
