Football linemen, as a rule, don’t usually get the accolades their teammates receive, but Harley Rector was impossible to ignore. Big, tough and talented, the Weeping Water native and Nebraska transfer played on some of PSC’s finest teams during the 1950s.
Rector earned All-Conference honors for the unbeaten, untied 1952 Bobcat squad and was later drafted by the Detroit Lions. Rector taught, coached and was a school administrator for most of his career, and also received numerous awards for public service.
