Before the 1987-88 season, women’s basketball at Peru State College didn’t have a lot to brag about. But the success of this team set the stage for a long tradition of Bobcat hoop excellence. Though young, the team posted a school-best 23-7 record despite a rugged schedule. The squad boasted excellent balance; eight different players led them in scoring during games that season. The Cats enjoyed a string of 17 consecutive home-court victories and outscored opponents by an average of almost 14 points per game.
Time would prove that some of the top individuals in PSC women’s basketball history were on this team. But at the time it was simply a collection of gifted women who played together and played hard-and enjoyed huge success.
