Peru State College Athletics

Bobcat athletic director Steve Schneider announced on Friday that Peru State volleyball player Cristina Viera (Montevideo, Uruguay) and football player Stephen Bowers (LaVista) were selected as the August Athletes of the Month. They were picked based on their play during the first weeks of competition.
 
Viera was selected to the Peru State Fall Classic All-Tournament team. She finished the tournament with 61 digs averaging 5.08 per set. She was also 59 of 60 in service receptions for 98.3%. In addition, she had six service aces. At the end of the first two weeks of NAIA volleyball, Viera has leading the country with 186 digs.
  
Schneider commented, “Cristina and Stephen both have had good starts to their seasons and have helped their respective teams to get off to nice starts.”
