The September Peru State athletes of the month are Julia Zurek (Louisville) and Travis Reed (Hickman).
Athletic Director Wayne Albury recently announced his decision. He noted that both Zurek and Reed have been key leaders on their respective teams.
Reed, a junior linebacker, is presently ranked 22nd in the NAIA in tackles (all positions) per game averaging ten total tackles.
He has had double-digit tackle numbers in three of the five games Peru State has played so far this season. Against Evangel (Mo.), Reed had 12 total tackles – three of which were solo. In addition, he had one tackle of a loss of 4.8 yards. In the game with Benedictine, Reed had 11 total tackles – five of which were solo. He had one tackle for a loss of nine yards and one sack. Against Baker, he had ten total tackles – three of which were solo.
On the season, Reed has 50 total tackles which almost doubles the next Bobcat who has 26.
Athletic director Albury noted, “Julia and Travis have proven to be leaders on their respective teams by letting their actions on the course and on the field prove their efforts.”
