(Peru, Neb.) – After leading their respective teams during the month of April, Taylor Finke (Battle Creek) and Eddy Tavarez Cabrera (San Cristobel, D.R.) were named by Peru State athletic director Wayne Albury as Peru State’s Athletes of the Month.
Finke, a sophomore golfer, was the Bobcats’ top golfer in two of the three tournaments in which her team played in April. At the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship (Heart) which was held at Osage National in Lake Ozark, Mo., Finke finished 11th. She finished with her best round of her collegiate career on the final day as she shot an 81.
In Peru State’s own tournament held at Table Creek, Finke medaled as she finished sixth with a two-day total of 169. In the first tourney in which the ‘Cats competed in April, Finke was 27th in the CSM/Midland University Invite.
Athletic director Albury noted, “Taylor and Eddy both have had key roles in the success of their respective teams during the month of April.” Concluding, he added, “They are top choices for April’s Bobcat Athletes of the Month.”
