Peru State athletic director Steve Schneider has announced that Bobcat golfer Jordan Schaardt (Humboldt) and Bobcat baseball player Ryan Grabowski (Omaha) have been selected as the May Bobcat Athletes of the Month.
Grabowski, an outfielder, had a breakout season during his final year as a Bobcat. At the end of the season, Grabowski earned HAAC All-Conference First Team honors after being listed in 12 different Top 20 categories in HAAC-only statistics. In all games played, Grabowski had the conference’s top batting average of .398, which also placed him among the nation’s leaders as well.
Like Schaardt, Grabowski also was named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District 6 First Team for baseball. Later in May, Grabowski became what is believed to be the first Bobcat baseball player to receive the Capital One Academic All-America College Division recognition, having been named to the second team.
