(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State Men's Bowling Team bowled at the Heart Conference Championships on Saturday and Sunday. The team entered the tournament in the #7 seed.
The conference tournament is a Mega-Match, double elimination tournament. A Mega-Match consists of three separate events, inside one match on one pair of lanes. The first team to win 2-points wins the match and moves on. One Team game (5-players each bowling a traditional game), the highest total pins determined 1-point award. 4-Baker style games (players bowls in the same game, alternating frames), 2 games on each lane. High total pins determine 1-point awarded. If one team wins both of those games, they move on, while the other team drops to the consolation bracket, with still a chance to make their way back to the title match. If they split 1 and 1, then the match goes to a 3rd set.
In their opening match, the Bobcats were faced with the #2 seed Clarke Pride. The men also won both the team game, and the 4-game Baker set to advance to the second round.
In the second round, the Bobcats were matchup with the #6 seed Culver-Stockton Wildcats. The wildcats took the team game point, while the Bobcats bounced back and took the 4-game Baker point, leaving the match tied, and now going into the best 3 of 5 Baker games. It continued until the 5th game of Bakers, when the Wildcats would pull off the victory and secure the match win, 2-1.
The team entered the 3rd round in the consolation bracket against the #5 seed, Missouri Valley Vikings. The team battled until the last ball was thrown, but in the end fell 0-2 to Missouri Valley.
