Football Field House Renovation

NOW IS THE TIME - CALLING ALL BOBCAT FOOTBALL PLAYERS

As a former Bobcat football player, you are a proud part of the Bobcat football tradition. You are surely aware of the renovations to the Oak Bowl stadium and field that were completed in 2014. The State of Nebraska provided $7.5 million, and the College and many generous donors provided another $1.5 million to complete this historic improvement.

This is just one of many recent investments that Peru State has made in the Bobcat football program. Other recent investments include:
  • Joining the Heart of America Athletic Conference, one of the best conferences in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics
  • Doubling room waiver allotments for student athletes
  • Supporting expanded recruiting and marketing activities
  • Building a new weight room in the Al Wheeler Activity Center
Unfortunately, even with this outstanding investment over the past few years, we still have not been able to address one of our greatest needs – a new home locker room. The current home locker room is wholly inadequate to serve the football team. Not enough lockers, poor restroom and shower facilities, no audio-visual or IT capabilities (and therefore no way to use important team tools like Hudl), no meeting space large enough for the team to gather.

Last fall, the College obtained the former Peru elementary school with the goal of renovating it to become the new home locker room and coaching facility for Bobcat football. Peru State is so close to meeting the goal of a new Bobcat home locker room, and that is why I am writing to you.

The Bobcats need to secure just another $150,000 to start construction on the project and have the new locker room ready for players this fall. Now is the time to go the distance for the Oak Bowl by providing a home locker room and coaching facility that meets a collegiate standard and provides an appropriate facility for our student athletes.

I am looking to former players to carry the ball down the field for this project, especially those who have not yet had an opportunity to make a gift and be a part of the Oak Bowl renovation.

I'm challenging each decade of players to show how much the football program means to you by contributing to this effort.  Former players from the decade that pledges the most money to the project will receive a four-year season pass to athletic events valued at $500.  Stay tuned to our Facebook page and web site to see the players who have supported this effort and the decade that has pledged to the campaign. The competition will continue through May. All gifts and pledges received between February 15 and May 31 will count toward your football decade.

Now is the time to go the distance for the Oak Bowl by supporting your football program.

Head Football Coach

P.S. You can make a one-time gift to the Oak Bowl, or make a pledge of support over a three or five year period. To make a pledge, contact Promise DeBilzan at 402-872-2304, or by email at pdebilzan@peru.edu. Gifts and pledges of $2,500 or more will be recognized on the donor display on the Oak Bowl concourse. Each and every gift is important and helps carry the ball down the field toward the goal.
