(Canton, Mo.)- Peru State Football capped its regular season with a high-powered 42–35 road victory over Culver-Stockton on Saturday afternoon, fueled by explosive plays, timely defense, and a dominant day from running back Stacian Livings.
The Bobcats wasted no time setting the tone, marching 65 yards on their opening possession and finishing with a 22-yard scoring burst from Livings to take a 7–0 lead. Moments later, the defense delivered one of the game's biggest swings.
Cadariyus Love jumped a route inside the red zone and sprinted 94 yards the other way for a pick-six, quickly putting Peru State ahead 14–0.
Culver-Stockton responded with a touchdown late in the first quarter and added two more scores in the second, but the Bobcats matched them blow for blow. Livings struck again with a 13-yard touchdown reception from
CJ Dixon, and Amahd Bacon hauled in a 49-yard bomb to help send the teams into halftime tied 28–28.
The third quarter turned into a fireworks show. Dixon connected with
Chaz Sturn on touchdowns of 41 yards and 60 yards — the latter coming as time expired in the period — to give Peru State a 42–35 advantage. Culver-Stockton punched in two scores of its own in the quarter, but the Bobcat defense held firm in the fourth, forcing two turnovers and a turnover on downs to seal the win.
Peru State's offense was efficient and explosive, tallying 344 total yards on just 50 plays. Dixon threw for 238 yards and four touchdowns, while Livings powered the ground game with 132 rushing yards on 22 carries and added a receiving score. Sturn led all receivers with 101 yards and two touchdowns on just two catches.
Defensively, the Bobcats forced four fumbles, recovered one, and picked off Wildcats quarterback Liam Thornton three times. Love's 94-yard return headlined the effort, while Alonzo Jackson, Nathaniel Orteg, and
Duke McClinton each contributed key plays.
Latrell McGhee paced the team with 13 total tackles.
