Glennis Werner announced today that Bobcat head football coach
Phil Ockinga received a nonrenewal notice.

Ockinga served as head coach for four seasons at Peru State, guiding the Bobcats to an overall record of 24-19. For the 2025-26 season, Ockinga produced 6-5 record and end in 3
rd with a 3-3 record in the North Division of the Heart of America Athletic Conference this season.

To ensure continuity and strong support for student-athletes, the College has appointed
Sean Wilkerson as Interim Head Coach. Wilkerson, who currently serves as a Defensive Coordinator, has established deep relationships with players and staff and will provide steady leadership for the team while the College conducts a search for the next head coach.

"Our priority is to make sure our student-athletes feel supported academically, athletically, and personally," said Director of Athletics Werner. "Coach Wilkerson understands our program's values and is well-positioned to guide the program and maintain the structure and stability our players need."
