Peru State AD/Head FB Coach Schneider Inducted into Midland Hall of Fame

(Peru, Neb.) – Recently, Peru State athletic director and head football coach Steve Schneider, was inducted into the Midland University Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame.
 
The Midland Sports Information Office kindly shared the following information which was used for Schneider's plaque:
 
"Steve Schneider, '80, was an integral part of the Midland community for 32 years, 1976-2008. Steve was a standout on the Midland Football Team for '76-'79 as a defensive lineman and he helped guide the Warriors to three conference championships. In '79, Steve was a captain on a team that won a conference championship with a 9-0 regular season record and qualified for the NAIA National Championship Playoffs.

He began his professional career at Midland in 1980 as a position coach and as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist for the football program. Steve was Head Softball Coach from 1988-1992 and was a two-time NAIA District 11 Coach of the Year. In football, he became the Defensive Coordinator in 1988 and then was named Head Coach, Director of Athletics, and Chair of the Physical Education Department in 1992. He guided the Warriors to the NAIA National Championship Playoffs in 1994, earning conference Coach of the Year honors.
 
Steve continued as Director of Athletics from 2001-2006. During his 14 years as Director of Athletics, Steve effectively implemented athletic department growth and he served as a mentor to all coaches and student-athletes. Steve served as the project manager for a $9 million dollar athletic facility expansion that was officially dedicated as the Event Center for Athletics and Conferencing in August, 2006. From 2007-2008, Steve was Vice President for Institutional Advancement, overseeing the fundraising and donor relations efforts for Midland.
 
Currently, Steve is Director of Athletics and Head Football Coach at Peru State College, where he continues his leadership and commitment to small-college athletics.
 
He earned his Master's Degree is Exercise Science from the University of Nebraska – Omaha in 1985. Steve and his wife Lori maintain a residence in Fremont.
 
Steve Schneider is inducted into the Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame for his outstanding service and dedication to Midland Athletics."
 
Schneider was inducted in October with Traci Bode Determan, Jason V. Lavicky, and Michael J. Price, Jr.
 
He has been at Peru State since 2009 as director of athletics. In March of 2012, Schneider took on the head football coach role.
 
In his time at Peru State, Schneider has helped oversee the renovation of the Oak Bowl which has made the facility one of the best football stadiums in the NAIA.
