(Peru, Neb.) – The Peru State College (PSC) Football Booster Club recently held their 2012 Wild Game Feed at the Auburn Eagles Club. The Wild Game Feed is one of many functions the booster club holds to raise funds, all of which go for the promotion of Bobcat Football, as well as, many other athletic programs.
Out-going Booster Club President Tim Smulling of
Nebraska City was pleased with the turnout and outcome of the event. Smulling said, “We have been having this event for several years and this was one of the best. The booster club is appreciative of all of the donations, food, and work provided by everyone to make the event what it was.”
Food for the event included having hors d'oeuvres of fried wild mountain oysters, pheasant wild rice soup, bacon wrapped jalapeno shrimp, elk chili, backyard gold fish with salmon dip, and mystery meat, salami and cheese were served prior to the actual dinner. This gave those in attendance the opportunity either to view the many opportunities of winning prizes or to bid on the silent auction items which had been donated. The dinner menu boasted a wide variety of game including venison stroganoff over egg noodles, long beard turkey and noodles, shredded venison on a bun, venison spaghetti, water fowl mix and noodles, butter fried pheasant breast, fried gobbler nuggets, and baked rainbow trout. For the faint of heart individuals, glazed spiral cut ham, creamed corn, green beans, and cheesy potatoes were available, among other items.
The new Booster Club President Rick Janssen of
Auburn noted, “The event was a huge success. It turned out to be our biggest wild game feed ever in terms of both attendance and money raised. However, this would not have been the case without the generous donations of businesses and individuals in the southeast Nebraska area. The Booster Club truly appreciates their generosity.”
