(Peru, Neb.) - MidAmerica Nazarene LB Joe Camacho was joined by Peru State teammates
Ryan Ludlow and
Garret Campbell as the Heart of America Athletic Conference Defensive, Offensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, on Monday afternoon.
Ludlow picked up his second offensive award of the season as he entered the Peru State record books thanks to another stellar performance in a 40-23 victory over Central Methodist on Saturday. A sophomore from
Plattsmouth, Neb., he carried 25 times for 115 yards and three touchdowns while also recording a 53-yard touchdown reception. Ludlow now owns the Bobcats' single-season record for rushing touchdowns with 18 and is the NAIA leader with 20 total touchdowns. In addition, Ludlow became just the sixth Bobcat to go over 1,000 yards in a season as he finished the game with 1,007 yards.
Campbell had an impact on both defense and special teams for the Bobcats as they improved to 4-4 on the season. A junior from
Santee, Calif., Campbell blocked a punt in the first quarter that led directly to a touchdown and returned a fumble 48 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. He also had one punt return for 27 yards and an average of 13.5 yards on two kickoff returns.
All three players will represent the conference in contention for the NAIA weekly awards, which will be announced no later than Monday afternoon.
