Peru State’s women’s golfer Jessica Weickert (Beatrice) and Bobcat men’s basketball player Corday Sims (Chicago) have been selected by athletic director Steve Schneider as the March Athletes of the Month.
Recently, Sims became the first Bobcat men’s basketball player in 23 years to be named to the NAIA Division I All-America First Team. Last year, Sims had received Second Team recognition.
In NAIA individual rankings, Sims finished first in total scoring (858), second in total three-point field goals made (111), second in points per game (26.00), third in three-point field goals made per game (3.364), 14th in defensive rebounds per game (6.424), 16th in free throw percentage (0.827), 18th in total rebounds (274), 21st in three-point field goal percentage (0.434), and 26th in total rebounds per game (8.303).
Schneider noted, “Jessica and Corday are excellent representatives as ‘Athletes of the Month.’ Jessica is a key component of the women’s golf program while Corday finished another excellent season in a Bobcat uniform. Congratulations to both of them.”
