Peru State athletic director recognized Julia Zurek (Louisville), Darlene Quinonez Holguin (Anthony, N.M.), and Drew Switzer (Casper, Wyo.) as the Bobcat student-athletes of the month for June.
The trio recently graduated from Peru State in May and finished their collegiate careers with perfect 4.0 grade point averages. Each earned their respective degree with a Summa Cum Laude notation.
Zurek, a three-year cross country runner, earned a bachelor of science in kinesiology with a minor in business administration. She was the Bobcats’ top runner for the past two years.
Quinonez Holguin, a setter on the Bobcat volleyball team, finished with a bachelor’s degree in management and marketing. The two-year starter earned all-conference honorable mention this past fall.
A key reserve for the Bobcat men’s basketball team for the past two years, Switzer earned his degree in marketing.
All three were named recently as Heart of America Athletic Conference Scholar-Athletes and will also be named as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes later this summer.
Albury stated, “Julia, Darlene, and Drew are all prime examples of what is means to be student-athletes. They have represented their respective programs well and will be successful in their future careers.”
