Shelbie Hess (Phoenix) and Sean McGary (Omaha) are the Peru State Bobcat Athletes of the Month for February as announced recently by athletic director Steve Schneider.
McGary, a 6-1 senior guard, was named to the Heart’s all-conference third team in his only season in a Bobcat uniform. He led the Bobcats with 3.03 assists per game and 1.65 steals per game. McGary finished second on the team in scoring with 12.1 points per contest.
Â
Playing against Graceland University the second time this season, McGary scored a season-high 27 points as he made ten of 17 shots. In the same contest, McGary had his season high of 12 rebounds. Twice during the season, McGary dished out eight assists and against Kansas Wesleyan University, McGary had a season high five steals.
Â
Currently, McGary is 33rd among NAIA Division I players with 51 total steals and is 42nd in steals per game averaging 1.645 per contest.
Â
Schneider noted that Hess and McGary were good choices as they helped their respective teams down the stretch in their regular-season games as both teams qualified for post-season play.
