Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 (Wichita, Kansas.)- The Peru State College volleyball team kicked off the Friends Invitational on Friday as they won both games in sweeping fashion, the Bobcats took on Oklahoma Panhandle State to begin and Evergreen State in the nightcap.
     
Peru State will rise to 3-1 overall on the season after winning six straight sets over the first day of the Invitational.
 
Game 1 – Peru State 3, Oklahoma Panhandle State 0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-21)
 
The first set took off as Peru State jumped ahead to an early 9-5 advantage that featured a kill from four different Bobcats. After an Aggie timeout, Peru State kept consistent as they utilized a 10-4 stretch and never looked back as after a 3-1 run for OPSU, The Bobcats captured the set with a 5-0 push to take the set point.
 
Peru State never trailed through the second set as they established an 8-4 lead to begin the second set, after an Aggie kill the Bobcats exploded with runs of 8-3 and 9-4 which allowed for an Addison Schnieder (Humphrey, Neb. / Humphrey) kill to earn the set 25-12.
 
The third set looked to continue the trend as Peru State launched ahead to a 12-3 lead until OPSU responded with two different 8-4 stretches to bring the game within one point at 20-19. The score held close until the Bobcats used back-to-back kills to slam home the set and the game 25-21.
 
Offensively Chancie Deaton (Payson, Ariz. Payson) and Brinley Falkinburg (Lincoln, Neb. / Lincoln East) led Peru State with seven kills each while Deaton recorded a .545 hitting percentage, following behind are Schnieder, Eden Moore (Eagle, Neb. / Waverly) and freshman Lilly Dinnel (Wauneta, Neb. / Wauneta) who all earned five kills respectively. Teodora Bulatovic (Tivat, Montenegro / SMŠ "Mladost" Tivat) led the Bobcats with 12 assists while Samantha Chesley (Lincoln, Neb. / Pius X) notched 10.
 
Defensively Braelyn Braithwaite (Elkhorn, Neb. / Elkhorn South) paved the way as she marked nine digs while Shealie Weibers (Papillion, Neb. / Papillion-La Vista) totaled eight and Bulatovic picked up seven, Deaton posted five total blocks in the game while Falkinburg recorded two solo blocks.
 
Game 2 – Peru State 3, Evergreen State 0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-17)
 
Peru State started off with a slight 9-6 advantage over the Geoducks in the opening set as neither team was able to pull away, after an Evergreen State timeout, the Geoducks were able to tie the game at 14 and the game continued to be back and forth until the Bobcats capped off the set with a Falkinburg service ace which earned the set point 25-22.
 
The second set featured Evergreen State climbing ahead to a score of 4-2 before Peru State surged back to take a seven-point lead at 20-13 with the help of five kills from Moore over the stretch. The Geoducks battled back to bring the score within one at 23-22 but back-to-back kills from Deaton and Moore slammed the set shut 25-22.
 
The third set opened with four separate ties until the Bobcats broke the stalemate with a 6-2 push to give Peru State the lead. After three straight points from Evergreen State, the Bobcats used a 10-3 stretch to pull the game out of reach as Peru State won the set point 25-17.
 
Offensively Moore led the charge with 12 kills in the game while Weibers totaled eight, Bulatovic recorded a game-high 16 assists while Chesley marked 12.
 
Braithwaite led the Bobcat defense with 17 digs in the game and Weibers notched eight digs as well.
 
Peru State continues at the Friends Invitational by taking on Friends University Saturday at 12 p.m.
