(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State women's bowling team turned in another strong performance over the weekend, finishing 5th and advancing to the semifinals to take 3rd/4th overall at the Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge in Lawrence, Kansas.
The Bobcats started the tournament with a solid team total of 4,202 pins through five traditional games, averaging 840.4 per game. Leading the way individually was Mindy Bartels, who finished 9th overall out of 111 bowlers with a 904 total and a 180.8 average. Aleia Crandall followed close behind in 19th with an 866 total (173.2 average), while Makenzie Millard added consistency throughout the day with an 847 total (169.4 average) to place 27th.
Other contributors included Kaitlyn Doyal (640 total, 160 avg), Lindsay Niemann (500 total, 166.7 avg), Abby Yates (182 total, 182 avg), Haylie Colwell (146 total), and Ashley Pfeifer (117 total) as the Bobcats showcased their depth throughout qualifying.
In Baker play, Peru State rolled a total of 2,454 pins over 16 games, averaging 153.4 per game to secure a spot among the top eight and move on to match play.
The Bobcats opened bracket play with a 3-0 sweep over Morningside, taking games 200–191, 166–160, and 182–172 in the best-of-five Baker format. In the semifinal round, Peru State battled Central Missouri in a tight five-game match, ultimately falling 2-3 (162–184, 148–144, 155–131, 141–200, 137–150) to finish tied for third.
