(Wichita, Kan.)- The Peru State women's bowling team turned in a strong performance at the Mid States Championships, finishing seventh out of 24 teams and advancing to single-elimination match play.
The Bobcats tallied a total pinfall of 5,119 over six team games, averaging 853 pins per game. They then added four Baker sets for a total of 2,748 pins and a 171.8 average.
Individually, Makenzie Millard led the Bobcats with an impressive 1,173 total pinfall and a 195.5 average, finishing 16th overall out of 193 bowlers. Aleia Crandall followed with 1,031 pins and a 171.8 average, placing 46th. Kaitlyn Doyal also performed well, rolling a 1,017 total and 169.5 average to finish 55th.
Additional contributors included Abby Yates (595 total, 148.8 avg.), Ashley Pfeifer (478 total, 159.3 avg.), Lindsay Niemann (512 total, 170.7 avg.), and Mindy Bartels (313 total, 156.5 avg.).
Peru State's top team game came in Game 6 with an 889, highlighted by Millard's 245.
In Baker play, the Bobcats posted consistent sets of 658, 696, 683, and 711. The team advanced to match play as one of the top eight programs and faced Oklahoma Christian in a best-of-five Baker series. The Bobcats battled through four games but ultimately fell 3-1, with scores of 173–158, 118–188, 126–187, and 164–181.
