Peru State Volleyball Sweeps Bethany on Saturday Morning

(Peru, Neb.)—On Saturday, August 26, the Peru State volleyball team was able to get revenge from Tuesday's match on the Bethany Swedes with a sweep Saturday morning. Below is a breakdown of how the Saturday morning match went…
 
The first set was tightly contested as the Swedes took a 14-12 lead from a couple of errors by the Bobcats. Peru State then went on a 5-0 run to make the score 17-14, with an ace from Allie Schneider (Humphrey) and kills from Elli Williams (Olathe, Kan.) and Shealie Wiebers (Papillion).
 
The Bobcats were up 20-15 after a kill Erison Vonderschmidt (Falls City) but the Swedes would get the game back to within one point after three kills and an error.
 
Peru State closed the first set on a 5-1 run, with kills by Addison Schneider (Humphrey), a couple of errors from the Swedes and a kill by Vonderschmidt as the set went final at 25-20.
 
Bethany started out hot in the second set as they were up 7-3 early, the Bobcats would then take the next four points to tie the game at seven with kills by Wiebers and Allie Schneider, Alyssa Bock (Plattsmouth) also connected with an ace.
 
Bethany would then score the next three points to make the score 10-7. The Bobcats later in the set would take a 14-13 lead after a kill from Allie Schneider. The Swedes and the Bobcats would trade the next few points.
 
The Swedes would then take a 21-17 lead, but the Bobcats would then get another 5-1 run to regain the lead at 22-21, with kills by Allie Schneider, Addison Schneider and an ace from Bock.
 
Peru State closed out the set 25-22 with a kill from Addison Schneider, an ace from Bock and  kill from Vonderschmidt.
 
In the third and final set both teams traded points for a while, until the Bobcats went on a 5-0 run with kills by Keiley Hein (Omaha) and Vonderschmidt and an error from the Swedes.
 
Peru State extended its lead out to 19-12 late in the third set after a kill from Vonderschmidt. The Bobcats looked like as if they had the game in tow up 24-16 after a kill from Addison Schneider. The Swedes would score the next four points before Hein would get the final kill giving the Bobcats a 25-20 set win to finish the sweep.
 
Hein and Vonderschmidt tied for the lead in kills with ten apiece, Schneider finished with five. Bock had a team-high four aces, Allie Schneider finished with three and Hein with two.
 
Addison Schneider led the team with six blocks, Vonderschmidt finished with four and Allie Schneider finished with two.
 
Allie Schneider had a team-high 33 assists. Chantal Paniagua (Santo Domingo, D.R.) led the team in digs with 22 while Hein and Vonderschmidt finished with 15 and 12 respectively.
 
Peru State later in the day fell in a five-set thriller to Waldorf.
 
The Bobcats return to the court this Tuesday, August 29 at home, against York at 7:00 p.m.
