(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State Volleyball team fell to the Baker Wildcats in Baldwin City, Kansas in a close 4-set match on Friday evening. The Bobcats also lost their match to the MidAmerica Nazarene in Olathe, Kansas in a 4-set match on Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats are now 7-15 overall and 2-8 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

In the first set, the Bobcats had a strong start going point for point with the Wildcats until the Wildcats took a 13-17 lead. A couple of strong serves from
Chantal Paniagua (SR., Santo Domingo, D.R.) Â helped the Bobcats to close the gap but the Bobcats could not pull ahead and ultimately lost the set 23-25. The Bobcats started the second set off with strong serves from
Allie Schneider (SR., Humphrey, NE) and a big block by
Kalyssa Fox (JR., Casa Grande, AZ) and
Elli Williams (JR., OIathe, KS) in the first point of the set. The Bobcats kept the momentum going point for point with the Wildcats and two kills from
Erison Vonderschmidt (FR., Falls City, NE). The bobcats found themselves struggling and the wildcats took the lead to a score of 14-22 before the wildcats won the set 16-25. In the third set, the Bobcats took charge starting off with kills by
Erison Vonderschmidt (FR., Falls City, NE) and
Keiley Hein (SR., Omaha, NE) giving the Bobcats a lead of 7-1 to start the third set.
Reagan Osterhaus (JR., Wetmore, KS) and
Addison Schneider (SO., Humphrey, NE) had multiple kills throughout the set with a kill from
Keiley Hein (SR., Omaha, NE) to give the bobcats a 25-23 win in set three. To start off set four,
Reagan Osterhaus (JR., Wetmore, KS) had three kills after strong serves from
Keiley Hein (SR., Omaha, NE). The bobcats kept up with the wildcats until the wildcats took an 18-12 lead. The Bobcats fought back evening out the score at 21-21. The teams fought point for point, but the game ended in the wildcats favor at 27-29.
Erison Vonderschmidt (FR., Falls City, NE) led the Bobcats with twelve kills on the night.
Keiley Hein (SR., Omaha, NE) had eleven kills and fourteen digs for the Bobcats.
Reagan Osterhaus (JR., Wetmore, KS) also tallied nine kills each for the match.
Chantal Paniagua (SR., Santo Domingo, D.R.) added eighteen digs, with
Allie Schneider (SR., Humphrey, NE) adding eleven digs with thirty-three assists.

The Bobcats started the first set off strong with a kill by
Elli Williams. After kills by
Erison Vonderschmidt (FR., Falls City, NE) and
Allie Schneider (SR., Humphrey, NE) the bobcats kept fighting but unfortunately the Pioneers won the set 21-25. In set two, the Bobcats took a quick lead of 8-5 after back-to-back service aces by
Alyssa Bock. The two teams fought point for point the entire set until the Pioneers took the lead and won 22-25. In the third set, the bobcats had a rough start with the score getting to 4-9 in favor of the pioneers before a kill by
Erison Vonderschmidt (FR., Falls City, NE),
Addison Schneider (SO., Humphrey, NE) and
Keiley Hein (SR., Omaha, NE) and a series of strong serves from
Alyssa Bock with three aces took the Bobcats into the lead at 16-11. They kept the momentum throughout the rest of the set with a kill by
Reagan Osterhaus (JR., Wetmore, KS) won the set for the bobcats 25-19. In set four, the bobcats evened out the score at 8-8 with back-to-back service aces by
Alyssa Bock and kills by
Erison Vonderschmidt (FR., Falls City, NE). The Bobcats struggled before fighting back to a score of 18-21 but the Pioneers got the win in the end, winning the set 19-25.

Addison Schneider (SO., Humphrey, NE) also tallied six kills each for the match.

Allie Schneider (SR., Humphrey, NE) adding nine digs with twenty-nine assists.
Alyssa Bock also tallied fourteen digs while also having eight services aces.
