Peru State Volleyball Falls in Weekend Matches

(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State Volleyball team fell to the Central Methodist Eagles in a 3- set match at home on Friday evening. The Bobcats also lost their match to Missouri Valley at home on Saturday morning in a well fought 5-set match. The Bobcats are now 7-17 overall and 2-10 in the Heart of America Conference.

The Bobcats own Keiley Hein (SR., Omaha, NE) had 3 kills in the first set along with Erison Vondershmidt (FR., Falls City, NE) having 2 kills. Even with their efforts, unfortunately Central Methodist took the first set. Peru State had a big block by Addison Schneider (SO., Humphrey, NE) and Erison Vonderschmidt (FR., Falls City, NE) in the second set. The team was ready for more in the third set as the Bobcats found their groove starting off with a huge kill and ace from Erison Vonderschmidt and blocks by Elli Williams (JR., OIathe, KS), Keiley Hein and Reagan Osterhaus (JR., Wetmore, KS). The Bobcats fell short and lost the match 0-3.
Keiley Hein (SR., Omaha, NE) had a successful night leading with eight kills and ten digs on the night. Erison Vondershmidt (FR., Falls City, NE) had four kills and twelve digs, while Addison Schneider (SO., Humphrey, NE) also tallied four kills and one block for the match.
Chantal Paniagua (SR., Santo Domingo, D.R.) added thirteen digs, with Allie Schneider (SR., Humphrey, NE) adding seventeen assists. Elli Williams (JR., OIathe, KS) had three blocks on the match.
Peru State vs Missouri Valley
The Bobcats came out hot against Missouri Valley with Allie Schneider getting a service ace on the first point of the match. Erison Vonderschmidt (FR., Falls City, NE) and Keiley Hein (SR., Omaha, NE) both had five kills in the set. A big block from Kalyssa Fox (JR., Casa Grande, AZ) and Elli Williams (JR., Olathe, KS) which resulted in a big win for the first set, Bobcats 25-21. The second set was started off strong with a kill then ace from Keiley Hein (SR., Omaha, NE). Even after a well fought back and forth battle, the Bobcats fell in the second set 21-25. Peru State kept the third set close with multiple kills by Kennedy Miller (JR., Plattsmouth, NE) and Addison Schneider (SO., Humphrey, NE). The Bobcats fought all the way to the end but ultimately lost the set 23-25. The Bobcats came out in set four stronger than ever. Back to back kills by Keiley Hein (SR., Omaha, NE) and Addison Schneider, started the Bobcats off strong. They kept their momentum thought the set with big plays from Kennedy Miller and Keiley Hein (SR., Omaha, NE). The Bobcats won the set after a service ace from Alyssa Bock. In set five, the Bobcats fought but even with big blocks by Kennedy Miller (JR., Plattsmouth, NE), Kalyssa Fox (JR., Casa Grande, AZ) and Addison Schneider (SO., Humphrey, NE), the Bobcats fell in the 5th set 9-15.
Keiley Hein (SR., Omaha, NE) led the Bobcats with eighteen kills, nineteen digs, and two blocks. Erison Vonderschmidt (FR., Falls City, NE) had twelve kills and ten digs for the Bobcats. Kennedy Miller (JR., Plattsmouth, NE) also tallied seven kills and four blocks during the match, while Addison Schneider (SO., Humphrey, NE) ended with six blocks.
Chantal Paniagua (SR., Santo Domingo, D.R.) added seventeen digs, with Allie Schneider (SR., Humphrey, NE) adding 42 assists with three services aces. Alyssa Bock also tallied seventeen digs for the Bobcats.
Next: The Bobcats take on the #11 College of Saint Mary Flames in Omaha, Neb. on Wednesday, October 18th. The first serve is set for 7:30pm.
