Peru State Volleyball Falls in Hard Fought Set Match
(Peru, Neb.)- Peru State Volleyball falls in a hard fought 5-set match to the Grand View Vikings on Friday Night. The Bobcats are now 3-13 in the Heart of America Conference and 8-21 overall.
In the first set of the match, the Bobcats came out hot with kills by Elli Williams (JR., OIathe, KS) and  Kalyssa Fox (JR., Casa Grande, AZ). They went back and forth with the Vikings with big blocks by Kalyssa Fox, Elli Williams and Keiley Hein (SR., Omaha, NE) and strong serves from Allie Schneider (SR., Humphrey, NE). Even with multiple kills by Keiley Hein, the Viking take the set 25-21.
The Bobcats had a rough start in the second set letting the Vikings get a 10-2 lead. Back to back kills by Erison Vonderschmidt (FR., Falls City, NE), Addison Schneider and Elli Williams helped the Bobcats come back and take the lead 11-17. The keep pushing their lead with two kills from Addison Schneider (SO., Humphrey, NE) and a final service ace by Chantal Paniagua (SR., Santo Domingo, D.R.) win the set for the Bobcats 25-18.
In the third set, the Bobcats started out strong with strong serves by Allie Schneider. The Vikings kept the game close with kills from Elli Williams and Kalyssa Fox not letting the Vikings run away with the set. A block from Allie Schneider and Elli Williams kept the Bobcats fighting to a score of 25-25 but the Vikings were able to pull out a win in the third set 27-25.
To start the fourth set, Keiley Hein, Erison Vonderschmidt and Kalyssa Fox came out with big swings, not showing the Vikings any mercy. They continued throughout the set with big hands from Kalyssa Fox, Elli Williams and Erison Vonderschmidt tallying multiple blocks. Back-to-back kills from Erison Vonderschmidt and Addison Schneider finishing the set with a 26-24 win.
The Bobcats came out fighting hard in the fifth set keeping the score close. Allie Schneider had a couple strong serves to begin the set. Kalyssa Fox, Erison Vonderschmidt and Addison Schneider had some big kills as they fought throughout the set. Even through the Bobcats never gave up their fight, the Vikings took the set and the win 15-13.
Keiley Hein (SR., Omaha, NE) led the Bobcats with fourteen kills and 23 digs on the night.  Erison Vonderschmidt (FR., Falls City, NE) also tallied thirteen kills and 19 digs for the match.  Kalyssa Fox had eleven kills and seven blocks for the Bobcats. Elli Williams had nine blocks with nine kills during the match. Addison Schneider (SO., Humphrey, NE) tallied ten kills and added three blocks for the Bobcats.
Chantal Paniagua (SR., Santo Domingo, D.R.) added nineteen digs, with Alyssa Bock (SR., Plattsmouth, NE) adding thirteen digs.  Allie Schneider (SR., Humphrey, NE) had nine digs and 52 assists. Schneider hit 2,200 career assists during the match.
Next: The Bobcats will take on the William Penn Statesman, in the AWAC tomorrow, Saturday, October 28th. The first serve is set for 1:00pm. The Bobcats will be celebrating their seniors ahead of the first serve.
