(Peru, Neb.) – The Peru State volleyball team fell to #9 College of Saint Mary Flames in Omaha, Neb. in a 3-set match on Wednesday evening. The Bobcats are now 7-18 overall.
In the first set, the Bobcats started off strong with kills by Keiley Hein (SR., Omaha, NE) and Kalyssa Fox (JR., Casa Grande, AZ). The Bobcats went point for point with the Flames until the Flames were able to take the lead to 14-18. A series of kills by Addison Schneider (SO., Humphrey, NE) kept the Bobcats fighting but the Flames won the set 19-25.
The Bobcats came out on fire in the second set taking a 6-2 lead. Erison Vonderschmidt (FR., Falls City, NE), Keiley Hein, and Kennedy Miller (Jr., Plattsmouth, NE) had a few big plays to keep up with the flames throughout the set, but the flames managed to take the lead. The Flames took the second set for a final score of 17-25.
In the third set, the Bobcats started off with a couple of big kills by Kalyssa Fox, however, they couldn't keep up as the Flames bounced by and were able to hold their lead to end the second set 10-25.
Erison Vonderschmidt led the Bobcats with eight kills on the night. Kalyssa Fox ended the match with seven kills and two blocks. Addison Schneider also added two blocks followed by Kennedy Miller with one.
Keiley Hein tallied ten digs and six kills for the match. Chantal Paniagua (SR., Santo Domingo, D.R.) added seven digs, with Allie Schneider (SR., Humphrey, NE) adding six digs with 23 assists.
