Box Score (Peru, Neb.)—On Friday, September 16, the Peru State volleyball team defeated the Clarke Pride three sets to zero. The Bobcats improve to 5-7 overall and 2-1 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play, while the Pride fall to 3-9 and 0-5 in Heart play.
Below is a breakdown of how each set went…
In the first set it was all tied at five apiece after a kill from
Kim Krise (Briggsdale, Colo.). Then Clarke went on a 5-1 run to make the score 11-6. The 'Cats would fight back with a 4-1 run of their own as they trailed by two 12-10 off a kill by
Katie Mendick (Bellevue).
Clarke then went on a 7-2 run to make the score 19-12 in the first. The 'Cats would claw their way back as they went on a 12-2 run to take a 24-22 lead, during the run there were kills by
Kennedy Miller (Plattsmouth),
Allie Schneider (Humphrey), Mendick, a few errors from the Pride and aces by
Mattie Nichols (Auburn) and Schneider.
Krise would get the set point as Peru won the first set 25-23. The second set again started out tight as the game was tied 6-6 after an ace from
Olivia Gordon (Oskaloosa, Iowa). Then kills by Krise and Schneider would have the Bobcats with a two-point lead.
Then a 4-0 run would put the Pride back in front 10-8 in the second set. Then it would become a back-and-forth affair as a couple errors from Clarke had the game tied at 15.
The Bobcats would extend their lead out by two 18-16 from kills by Krise and Mendick. Then Clarke went on a 7-1 run to take a 23-19 lead. The Bobcats went on a 6-0 run to take a two-set lead with kills by Schneider and Mendick a couple errors and an ace by Schneider.
The Bobcats won set two 25-23.
Peru State started the third set on fire as they had a 9-3 lead out the gate, kills by
Kylee Fischer (Bellevue), Krise and Miller.
Michelle Beer (Salem) contributed an ace on the run. The Bobcats were dominating the third set as they led 15-5 off a kill by Mendick.
The Bobcats then had a ten-point lead over the Pride 20-10 off an error. Clarke was able to get six more points throughout the match but Peru State won set three 25-16 from a block by Miller and
Lauren Moubray (Mission, Tex.).

Madison Kindle said about tonight's victory…
"Really proud of how we battled as a program tonight," said Coach Kindle. "It was awesome to see things we have been working on in practice carry over into tonight's match."
Krise led the way in kills with 14, Schneider and Mendick followed with nine apiece. Gordon and Schneider had three aces while Nicols had two. Miller had two blocks while Moubray finished with one.
Gordon had had 18 assists while Schneider had 16 and Nichols finished with three.
Chantal Paniagua (Santo Domingo, D.R.) had nine digs while Nichols had eight and Schneider finished with seven.
Peru State has a quick turnaround as they face the Mount Mercy Mustangs Saturday, September 17, at 9:30 a.m.
