(Peru, Neb.)—Earlier this spring Peru State bowling coordinator
Brenda Lutz signed Jaden Merkel for the upcoming 2022-23 season. Merkel is from Lincoln, Nebraska and went to Raymond Central High School.
Merkel is the son of Jay and Kerri Merkel. He plans to study Criminal Justice while attending Peru State College.
In 2019 Merkel received the Varsity Boys Second All-Tournament team captain at the Bellevue invitational, he also lettered in bowling at Lincoln North Star. In 2022 he won the Stan Dority Memorial Scholarship Tournament and in April he took first place in doubles at the Nebraska USBC Youth State Tournament in their division.
His high score series was a 702 and he was on the Honor Roll all throughout high school.
