She served as the team captain of the Ballistic VBC from 2018-20. Her Ballistic VBC head coach, Brendon Feddema, said this about Welch, "Abby is a very smart student in the classroom and on the court. She holds herself and her teammates to high standards and is eager to learn and improve in all aspects of the game. She has worked hard and developed into a six-rotation right side hitter with outstanding leadership abilities."
Â
Welch was Ralston Valley's junior varsity captain in 2019 and was the most valuable player. She was a four-year academic letter winner and a member of the National Honor Society.
Â
She will be studying psychology at Peru State. In addition to her volleyball scholarship, Welch will be receiving the College's No Boundaries scholarship.
Â
Felderman added this in addition to Feddeman's comments, "Abby is a solid six-rotation right side who will add versatility to our offense as well as a threat in the back row. She has a strong competitive spirit and will lead her teammates as a positive energy on the court."
