(Peru, Neb.) – The Clarke Pride came into the Al Wheeler Activity Center and swept the Bobcats Friday night in its "Pink Out" night. The Pride won 25-19, 25-12, 25-15 over the 'Cats.

Clarke improved to 26-7 overall and 13-5 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart). The Bobcats fell to 10-23 on the season and 6-10 in conference action with two contests remaining in their regular season.

Peru State got the first point of the match on a setting error by Clarke. After a kill by the Pride,
Alexandra Chavarria (Hollister, Calif.) put down a kill on an assist from Cassidy Davis
(Colorado Springs, Colo.). The Pride would tie it, but then gave Peru State a point on an attacking error to make it 3-2. Clarke would rattle off five straight points and never trailed after that in the first set. The closest Peru State would get would be trailing by two at 16-14 after
Grace Frederick (Benkelman) would get a kill from
Darlene Quinonez Holguin (Anthony, N.M.).

A kill by
Alyssa Childers (Lincoln) from Davis gave Peru State the early 1-0 lead. The early part of the set went back and forth and Peru State was within two at 10-8 after a service ace by
Alexis Cox (Brighton, Colo.). The Pride would go on a 10-1 run after that and the 'Cats never get back into the set.

Clarke would jump to a 4-0 lead in the third set and never trailed on their way to a win. A kill by
Mallory Matthies (Omaha) on an overpass put the Bobcats on the board. Frederick would get a kill Davis to make it 4-2, but that would be as close as the 'Cats would be the rest of the way.

Clarke more than doubled up Peru State in hitting percentage as they finished at .350 while the Bobcats hit .150. Likewise the Pride doubled up the 'Cats in assists as they finished with 49 compared to 23 for Peru State.

The Pride had three service aces against four errors while Peru State had one ace and one error. Clarke actually out-dug the 'Cats 58-46. The Pride also won the blocking aspect as they finished with five total blocks compared to two for the Bobcats.

Chavarria led the Bobcats with eight kills while hitting an outstanding .571. Frederick contributed six kills and hit .313. Cudney and Matthies each had four kills.

Peru State has two remaining contests in their regular season – both of which will be key to whether they make it into postseason play. On Saturday, the 'Cats will be hosting Mount Mercy (Iowa) at 1 p.m. The Mustangs are 19-11 overall and are 9-8 in conference action and have secured a position in the conference postseason tournament.

It will be senior day for three of the Bobcats – Quinonez Holguin, Matthies, and Cudney. Their recognition will take place following the match.

On Tuesday, the Bobcats will be facing another "Cat" team as they travel to Canton, Mo., to face Culver-Stockton at 6 p.m. The Wildcats are 10-18 on the year and are 4-13 in the Heart.
