(Peru, Neb.) – For the first time since 2010, the Peru State football team lost its third game in a row to start a season. The visiting Evangel (Mo.) Crusaders topped the Bobcats 35-13 in Peru State's first home game of the season.

In 2010, the 'Cats started the season with four straight losses to Concordia, Jamestown (N.D.), Buena Vista (Iowa), and Sterling (Kan.). Prior to the loss to Evangel, the 'Cats had dropped contests on the road to Hastings and Central Methodist (Mo.).
