(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State College athletic department has announced the hiring of Myles Bach as the new Head Cross Country and Distance Track Coach.
"It is our pleasure to welcome Myles to campus. Our accomplished team of coaches is gaining momentum on many fronts, and adding Coach Bach is a natural next step for our cross country and track programs. His background and experience make him an outstanding fit for Peru State Athletics," said Athletic Director Glennis Werner.
Bach comes to Peru State with experience at both the NCAA Division II and Division III levels and a background as both a successful student-athlete and coach. Most recently, Bach served as the Head Cross Country and Assistant Track and Field Coach at Beloit College, where he also worked as the program's recruiting coordinator.
Prior to his time at Beloit, Bach worked as an Assistant Cross Country and Track and Field Coach at Washburn University. During the 2024 season, he helped guide the Washburn men's cross country team to a 24th-place finish at the NCAA Division II National Championships, the best finish in program history. The Ichabods also placed fourth at the NCAA Division II Central Region Championships, tying the program's best regional finish.
While at Washburn, Bach assisted with recruiting, meet management, training programs, and a variety of day-to-day operations within the cross country and track and field programs.
"I am very excited to be joining the athletic department at Peru State College and return to the state of Nebraska. We want to provide an exceptional student athlete experience as we proceed in building the Cross Country and Track program. I want to thank Athletic Director Glennis Werner and the search committee for their belief in me to lead the future of the program." said Coach Bach
Bach earned his Master of Arts in Education in Kinesiology and Sport Sciences (Coaching) from University of Nebraska–Kearney, completing the degree in December 2024. He also earned his Bachelor of Science in Sports Management Comprehensive from Nebraska–Kearney in 2023 after beginning his collegiate career at Gonzaga University, where he studied psychology with a minor in sports management.
As a student-athlete, Bach was highly accomplished at the national level. He was a 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Meet Qualifier in the 10,000 meters, a three-time USTFCCCA All-Central Region cross country honoree, and a member of two NCAA Division II national qualifying cross country teams. He was also named a 2022 NCAA Division II Academic All-American.
