(Peru, Neb.)- After a dominant defensive showing in Peru State's 31-17 win over Baker, Ja-Quez Oliver has been named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week presented by Musco Lighting.
Oliver anchored the Bobcat defense on Saturday night, finishing with four tackles and one of the game's biggest plays. With less than a minute remaining, the defensive back intercepted a pass and returned it 51 yards for a touchdown to seal the victory. The pick-six was one of four interceptions forced by the Bobcats in the contest, as Peru State's defense held Baker to just three points in the second half.
The Bobcats will be back in the Oak Bowl on Saturday, September 9th. They will take on Missouri Valley at 6:00pm.
