(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State volleyball team gave nationally ranked No. 24 Grand View all it could handle on Tuesday night inside the Al Wheeler Activity Center. The Bobcats forced a decisive fifth set before ultimately falling 3-2 in a thrilling Heart of America Athletic Conference matchup.
The opening set went down to the wire, with Grand View narrowly pulling away 27-25. Peru State responded with energy in the second, using key swings from Kalolaine Pasikala and Averie Carollo to secure a 25-20 victory. The Vikings regained momentum in the third, but the Bobcats once again battled back in the fourth, powered by blocks from Addison Schneider and Brinley Falkinburg, to tie the match at two sets apiece.
In the fifth and deciding frame, both teams traded points early before Grand View was able to edge ahead late, closing out the match 15-12.
Several Bobcats had standout performances. Shealie Wiebers recorded 12 kills and four service aces, while Pasikala added 17 kills to pace the attack. Schneider was a force at the net, hitting .545 with 13 kills and four total blocks. Sami Chesley guided the offense with 30 assists, and libero Braelyn Braithwaite anchored the defense with 19 digs.
