(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State volleyball team went the distance on Tuesday night but ultimately fell in a five-set thriller to Baker (Kan.), 22-26, 24-26, 25-22, 25-17, 15-12.
The Bobcats came out strong, taking the first two sets behind efficient hitting (.395 in the opener) and steady defense. Eden Moore led the way with 13 kills while hitting .414 and adding seven digs. Kennedy Miller was a force at the net with nine kills and three blocks, while Addison Schneider chipped in 11 kills and a team-high four blocks.
Setter tandem Sami Chesley and Alina Hoxha combined for 43 assists to guide the offense, while libero Braelyn Braithwaite anchored the back row with a match-high 21 digs and four service aces. Alejandra Villareal added eight kills and 11 digs to round out a balanced Bobcat effort.
After Peru State claimed the first two sets, Baker regrouped and turned the tide with consistent attacking. The Wildcats pulled away late in the third and fourth sets, then edged out the Bobcats 15-12 in the decisive fifth.
Peru State finished with 52 kills on .191 hitting, 66 digs, and eight blocks.Â
