(Parkville, Mo.)- The Peru State volleyball team battled but ultimately came up short on the road Saturday, dropping a three-set match to Park (18-25, 19-25, 20-25).
The Bobcats showed improvement as the match progressed, keeping the pressure on the Pirates with a strong third-set effort that featured 10 kills and three team blocks. Peru State matched Park in long rallies, forcing 12 ties in the final frame before the Pirates pulled away late.
Shealie Wiebers led the attack with 11 kills while adding five digs and two blocks. Alejandra Villareal chipped in five kills and seven digs, and Eden Moore added five kills of her own. Setter Sami Chesley directed the offense with 16 assists and contributed seven digs, while Braelyn Braithwaite anchored the back row with a team-high 11 digs. At the net, Addison Schneider posted three blocks and Kennedy Miller added two.
As a team, the Bobcats finished with 26 kills, 34 digs, and 6.0 blocks, while also recording four service aces
