Softball Takes on Baker on Senior Day

(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State Softball Team played their senior day the Baker Wildcats on Saturday, April 19th. The Bobcats fell in the two games. The team is now 4-16 in the Heart of America Conference and 9-31 overall.
 
The Bobcats celebrated their five seniors, #3 Leann Hawkins, #10 Ellie Ohlde, #13 Autumn Dixon, #14 Jordan Tracy and #17 Maci Green following the games!
 
Game 1 (Peru State 4 – Baker 8)
 
The Bobcats came out swinging, jumping to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning. Jami Mans got things started with a clutch single that brought Leann Hawkins home for the first run of the game. Reagan Wiehe followed up with a well-executed sacrifice fly to score Kloey Hamblen, and Kaelyn Hamblen capped off the inning with a solid single to left field, driving in Jami Mans.
 
In the second inning, the Bobcats kept the pressure on. Kloey Hamblen delivered again with a sacrifice fly that brought Kylee Dieckmann across the plate, extending the lead. Offensively, the Bobcats racked up eight hits on the day.
 
On the mound, Sage Issacs was locked in, striking out four and allowing just four hits in a strong start that helped set the tone for the game.
 
Game 2 (Peru State 2 – Baker 5)
 
Reagan Wiehe came through with a clutch single in the fourth inning, driving in Ellie Ohlde to put the Bobcats on the board. Maci Green kept the momentum going with a well-placed sacrifice groundout, bringing Kloey Hamblen across the plate.
 
On the mound, Emily Vannatta set the tone early, allowing just two runs while racking up three strikeouts in a strong outing for the Bobcats.
 
The Bobcats honored their five Softball Seniors following their games.
