Men’s Basketball Earns Third Straight Bid to the NAIA National Championship

Roman Gentry, in his third year at the helm of the Peru State Men's Basketball program, led the Bobcats to their third NAIA National Tournament in a row.
The Bobcats posted an overall record of 22-9 while finishing third in the Heart of America Conference standings at 17-7 in conference play. They hosted the first round of the Heart Conference Tournament for the first time since the 2022-2023 season, where they defeated Grand View 76-60 in the quarterfinals. The Bobcats would then fall to Graceland in Lamoni, Iowa in the Semifinals.
The team received an at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament, earning a 13 seed. They traveled to Mishawaka, Indiana to face 4-seeded Bethel University (Ind.) in the first round. The Bobcats fell to the Pilots, marking the end to their season.
The home crowd was strong this season, helping the Bobcats post an impressive 14-1 record in the AWAC, including a 73-63 win over 6th ranked Baker (Kan.) on January 29th. The team finished the season scoring an average of 75.8 points per game on 45% from the field and 34.4% from the three-point line. Carlos Hines led the team in scoring with 18.7 points per game, including two 30-point games against Central Methodist (Mo.) and William Penn (Iowa). Aaron Miller had the team's high in field goal percentage with 64.1%, and Christian Tidiane led in 3-point percentage and free throw percentage with 41.9% and 84.2% respectively.
Three Bobcats earned All-Conference Awards at the end of the season. Carlos Hines received 1st Team All-Conference after shooting an impressive 41.3% from the field and 39.6% beyond the three-point line. He also was named Heart Offensive Player of the Week on January 13th. Devin Tomlinson also earned Heart Player of the Week, for his defensive efforts, and his 13.3 points per game awarded him a spot on 2nd Team All-Conference. Aaron Miller was another Bobcat standout, being named to 3rd Team All-Conference primarily for his defensive efforts.
Amir Poat, Devin Tomlinson, and Aaron Miller were all selected for the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. The CSC recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court, in the classroom, and in extra-curricular activities.
Peru State will have to replace 11 seniors from the team: Chris Peoples, Ty Griggs, Carlos Hines, Aaron Miller, Tyler Riley, Donzell Johnson, Ajantae Hogan, Devin Tomlinson, Easton Hall, Christian Tidiane, and Amir Poat.
