(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State Softball team hosted the #23 Midland Warriors on Thursday afternoon. The team fell in the hard fought game non-conference matchup, 4-12. The Bobcats are now 5-16 overall.
Â
Midland's strong offensive play held off the efforts of the Bobcats, despite a spirited attempt to rally in the fourth inning. Peru State, led by standout performances from
Kloey Hamblen and
Leann Hawkins, saw all their runs scored in a critical fourth inning. Hamblen notably contributed a critical 2-RBI double during this stretch, which momentarily shifted momentum in favor of the Bobcats.
From the pitcher's mound,
Emily Vannatta faced the Warriors as the starting pitcher for the day. She fought diligently in an attempt to stop the Warrior's hitters, allowing only seven hits and having one strikeout. Additional recognition goes to Hamblen for her outstanding game, including two doubles, and Hawkins who not only scored but also stole a base and drove in a run.

Next: The Bobcats will travel to Olathe, Kansas to take on MidAmerica Nazarene on Saturday, March 29
