(Cedar Rapids, Iowa)- The Peru State College Bobcats faced a tough challenge on the road against the Mount Mercy Mustangs, ultimately falling with a score of 70-59. The Bobcats could rally back the Mustangs' lead, moving their season record to 7-19 overall and 5-17 in conference play.
From the tip-off, the Bobcats showed promise when
Kylie Diaz scored the game's first points. However, Mount Mercy quickly took control, leading by as much as 7 points in the first quarter and ending the quarter ahead, 13-7. The Mustangs maintained their lead at halftime with a score of 35-27.
Throughout the game,
Erison Vonderschmidt was a standout performer for the Bobcats, contributing 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Natasha Deal added 11 points. In addition,
Hailey Ingram and
Taydem Miller facilitated the offense, each recording 2 assists, with Miller leading in steals with 3 for the game.
Despite a strong rally in the fourth quarter, the Bobcats struggled to close the gap set by Mount Mercy. The Mustangs ended the game 70-59.
