(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State women's basketball team battled throughout but came up short against Grand View on Saturday afternoon, falling 76–65 at the Al Wheeler Activity Center.
The Bobcats were led once again by standout junior Kylie Diaz, who turned in a dominant performance with 28 points and 10 rebounds, recording yet another double-double while playing 39 minutes. Diaz was efficient inside and out, shooting 11-of-20 from the field and adding a three-pointer and five made free throws.
Grand View set the tone early, jumping out to a 19–12 lead after the first quarter behind strong interior play and timely shooting. Peru State found more rhythm offensively in the second quarter, with Tiara Dodd and Savannah Bingham each contributing key baskets, but the Vikings continued to respond and carried a 41–30 advantage into halftime.
Peru State made its best push coming out of the break, putting up 21 third-quarter points—their highest-scoring period of the afternoon. Diaz scored eight in the frame, while MaKinley Tobey added a three-pointer and several defensive stops to help the Bobcats trim the deficit. Still, Grand View held steady and maintained a 58–51 lead heading into the fourth.
Dodd delivered a strong all-around game, finishing with 12 points and nine rebounds on 6-of-10 shooting. Bingham added 13 points, while Katelyn Sanders provided an efficient spark with five points and five rebounds.
