Strong Second Half Pushes Women's Basketball Past Baker on the Road

(Baldwin City, Kan.)- The Peru State women's basketball team continued its strong start to conference play, improving to 5–0 in the Heart and 8–4 overall with an 87–74 victory over Baker on Wednesday night.

The Bobcats used a balanced offensive attack and a dominant second half to pull away, outscoring the Wildcats 50–42 after halftime. Peru State shot an impressive 52.6% from the field and 43.8% from three, while also knocking down 20 of 24 free throws.

Kylie Diaz delivered another standout performance, finishing with 23 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 blocks in 31 minutes. She shot 9-for-16 from the floor and repeatedly provided momentum-shifting baskets.

MaKinley Tobey added 18 points, knocking down four threes while also collecting 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Tiara Dodd turned in a strong all-around effort with 15 points, 9 boards, 4 assists, and 2 steals.

Off the bench, Katelyn Sanders provided a huge fourth-quarter spark, scoring all 15 of her points in the final period, including going 7-for-8 from the free-throw line. Savannah Bingham added efficient scoring with 9 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting night while grabbing 6 rebounds.

The Bobcats also won the rebounding battle 41–21 and controlled the paint with 42 points inside.

Peru State's largest lead of the game came late in the third quarter at 17 points, and despite a late push from Baker, the Bobcats maintained control behind timely scoring and defensive stops.
