(Parkville, Mo.)- The Peru State men's basketball team dropped a 84-66 decision to Arizona Christian on Friday afternoon in neutral-site action hosted in Parkville, Missouri. With the loss, the Bobcats move to 2-1 on the season.
The Firestorm's efficient shooting proved to be the difference, as Arizona Christian shot 54.5 percent from the field and outscored Peru State 48–20 in the paint. The Bobcats trailed 39–33 at the break but were unable to close the gap in the second half as ACU pulled away behind a 45-point second half.
Peru State was led offensively by Denim Johnson, who finished with 18 points and eight rebounds while shooting 7-of-12 from the floor. Ashton Lovette added 15 points, knocking down three three-pointers, while Ty Griggs chipped in 10 points and three assists. Everett Stubblefield added eight points, and Christian Tidiane recorded five assists and a three-pointer.
As a team, the Bobcats shot 37.7 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc, while converting 72 percent of their free throws. The bench contributed 35 points, and the Bobcats forced eight steals on the defensive end.
