(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State men's basketball team improved to 2–0 on the season with a commanding 101–80 victory over York University on Monday night inside the Al Wheeler Activity Center. The Bobcats shot an impressive 50 percent from the field and saw five players reach double figures in the home win.
Ashton Lovette led the Bobcats with 22 points on 9-for-13 shooting, including three makes from beyond the arc. Denim Johnson stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and five steals, while Victor Lado recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Ty Griggs added 12 points and seven made free throws, and Everett Stubblefield chipped in 11 points to round out Peru State's double-digit scorers.
Peru State jumped out early, taking a 59–36 lead into halftime thanks to 59 percent shooting in the opening period. The Bobcats dominated the paint (44–30), outrebounded the Panthers 46–31, and got a big boost from their bench with 51 points.
Christian Tidiane contributed seven points and five rebounds, while Caleb Iheukwu and Jack Vankat each added key baskets off the bench. The Bobcats also hit 10 threes and converted 19-of-25 from the free throw line.
