(Parkville, Mo.)- The Peru State Women's Basketball Team fought hard but came up short in a 61-65 loss to the Park Pirates on Saturday, January 25
th. The Bobcats are now 4-13 in the Heart of America Conference and 6-15 overall.
The Peru State women's basketball team battled hard but came up short in a 61-65 loss to the Culver-Stockton Wildcats on Saturday. After a slow start, trailing 7-18 at the end of the first quarter, the Bobcats fought back in the second.
MaKinley Tobey's seven points and
Erison Vonderschmidt's four rebounds helped Peru State cut the deficit to just three at halftime, 26-29.
In the third quarter,
Hailey Ingram added eight points, while Vonderschmidt contributed eight points and two blocks, keeping the Bobcats within three, 46-49. The final quarter saw Vonderschmidt add five points and five rebounds, while
Natasha Deal chipped in four points, but the Bobcats couldn't close the gap, falling 61-65.
Vonderschmidt led the Bobcats with 15 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks. Ingram finished with 13 points, three assists, while Tobey added 11 points. Deal scored 10 points in the loss.
