(Peru, Neb.)- The Peru State Women's Basketball team put on an impressive performance in a dominant 82-54 win over the William Penn Statesmen. The Bobcats are now 4-9 in the Heart of America Conference and 6-11 overall.
From the tip-off, the Bobcats set the tone with a fast-paced offense and tight defense. They opened the game with a stellar 27-point first quarter, fueled by
Kylie Diaz's seven points. Both
Erison Vonderschmidt and
Savannah Bingham contributed on the boards, each pulling down three rebounds.
In the second quarter, the Bobcats didn't take their feet off the gas.
Kylie Diaz continued her hot shooting, adding another seven points. Bingham's defensive prowess also stood out as she recorded two steals, further disrupting the Statesmen's offense. At the half, Peru State had already built a commanding 46-23 lead.
The third quarter saw more of the same as Vonderschmidt scored four points while Diaz added four rebounds and blocked three shots. In the fourth quarter, Diaz's offensive output surged as she added eight more points. Vonderschmidt was equally effective, scoring seven points and grabbing three rebounds. Makinley Tobey also contributed on the boards with three rebounds, helping to solidify the Bobcats' win.
Erison Vonderschmidt finished with a game-high 23 points and eight rebounds, while
Kylie Diaz led the team with 22 points, six rebounds, eight assists, and five blocks.
Savannah Bingham was also stellar, recording 13 points, six rebounds, three steals, and two blocks, providing a balanced performance on both ends of the floor.
