Box Score (Atchison, Kan.)- The Peru State Women's Basketball Team fell to the Benedictine Ravens on Wednesday night, 51-76. The Bobcats are now 4-10 in the Heart of America Conference and 6-12 overall.
The Bobcats came out of the gate with energy and determination, staying within striking distance of the Ravens early in the game. At the end of the first quarter, Peru State only trailed by two, thanks in large part to the efforts of sophomore
Erison Vonderschmidt, who contributed six points during the opening quarter. However, Benedictine adjusted in the second quarter, expanding their lead to 43-26 by halftime.
In the second half, the Bobcats attempted to chip away at the deficit, but they couldn't close the gap. Senior
Hailey Ingram led the team in scoring, finishing with 12 points. Freshman
Kylie Diaz also contributed significantly, posting 10 points, four assists, and two rebounds in the loss.
Natasha Deal added nine points, five rebounds, and two steals to help keep the Bobcats in the fight. Vonderschmidt finished with eight points and six rebounds.
